BORE WELL FOR VELANKANNI NAGAR
Velankanni Nagar is a small village near to Kanji. The village has seventeen extremely poor families and up until 2011 had no water supply. The villagers had to walk miles to the next village for their water. As part of the community sponsorship program the charity has provided a bore well for the village.
To decide the location of the well a water diviner chose the spot . He knew he had found water when the keys attached to a string started shaking his hand and arm out of control.
When the well was drilled all of the mothers and kids and the old people from the village were watching. The men of the village were away working in the fields. As the drill struck the water the soil was getting wetter and wetter and eventually water came out of the parched ground, like a miracle.
The village now has water 'on tap'.
