CHILDREN'S HOME

The children’s home is named Shanthi Lumin which means Home of Peace and Light.

The first home in 1993 was a mud hut, which also served as the school, where ten orphan children were looked after.

There is now a home 2 km from the school where more than ninety children from deprived backgrounds are cared for.

Some have been abandoned; others may have lost one or both their parents. Illness, disability or unemployment can make it impossible for a parent to care for their child at home.

Whatever the reason for a child to come to Shanthi Lumin, they find there a place of love and security.

The land at the rear of the home has been cleared and has been planted with vegetables and fruit trees. These are looked after by the children in the home.
