ABOUT US

The Kanji Project is a small charity, run entirely by volunteers, which raises funds to give very poor children in India a safe place to live, a chance to learn and the hope of a better life. In 1994 St Antony's school and Shanthi Lumin children's home were set up in Kanji by Maria Rayappan with support from friends in the UK. Maria knew there was a desperate need to help children in this very poor area of Tamil Nadu in Southern India and that shelter and education would dramatically help them to improve their lives and their futures. The school started as a single classroom in a simple hut which was also the children's home at night.

The charity has enabled the simple hut to be replaced by a purpose built school and children's home and for many children and families to be helped in the area.

We are always in need of new supporters to help us by sponsoring a child or community projects, making a donation, or raising some funds.
